P. 615-616: John Rawlins against JEREMIAH HAYWOOD & Elizabeth his wife and John Smith. Traspass, Asssault & Battery.
JEREMIAH HAYWOOD & Elizabeth his wife against John Rawlins.
John Rawlings complains of JEREMIAH HAYWOOD his wife and John Smith, of a plea of trespass assault & battery, for forsaid defendants, heretofor, to wit, on the ‎[blank]‎ day of the year ‎[blank]‎, in the county aforesaid, with force and an aid did assault did wake up him the said John Rawlings, and hit the said Rawlins, with an instrument called a cornsleve, & with their fists & with sticks did beat, push, wound and evilly treat, & otherwise injure him then said defendants did cause to him great damage and injury of the said Rawlins & against the peace and dignity of the commonwealth= Wherefore the said John Rawlins saith he is injured and damaged to the amount of --- dollars.

9 Sep. term, 1831: The Commonwealth vs JEREMIAH HAYWOOD. On a recognizance for a breach of the peace. The defendant appeared in Court, in discharge of his recognizance, whereupon sundry witnesses were examined in consideration whereof, it is ordered that the defendant be recognized in the penalty of $300.00 with approved security and severally conditioned for the good behavior of him the said JEREMIAH HAYWOOD and his keeping the peace for the term of three years next ensuing, towards all the citizens of this Commonwealth and especially toward Catherine Walker, and judgment for costs. Whereupon the said JEREMIAH HAYWOOD with Gassaway Cross and William Harmison, his securities acknowledged a recognizance in the above sum of three hundred dollars jointly and severally conditioned as requested by the above order and said defendant was discharged.

26 June Term, 1832: Commonwealth vs JEREMIAH HAYWOOD, On an indictment for a libel. This day came as well the attorney for the Commonwealth, as the defendant by his attornies; and therupon came a jury, to wit: Jacob Huff, Michael Burk, William Fleese, Townsend W. Thomas, Elias Smith, Henry Buzzerd, John Fleese, David Ambrose, Samuel Crone, John Bechdol, Richard Vanosdoll, Isaac Caw who being elected, tried and charged the truth to speak upon the issue joined in solemn form do say, "We the jury find the defendant, not guilty, Richard Vanosdoll foreman. Ordered that the defendant be discharged.
‎[On the same day, same jury, Jeremiah was found guilty on another libel charge and fined $10.]‎

15 Sep Term, 1832: Commonwealth vs JEREMIAH HAYWOOD, On a recognizance for a breach of the peace. Ordered that said HAYWOOD be bound with good security, jointly and severally in the sum of $500.00 for the term of seven years for his keeping of the peace and be of good behavior. Ordered that any three magistrates of this County do take the above recognizance out of court.
